I will admit that the song is "Homestuck" styled. But Karkat and Ben are equal in their feelings about their past and the accomplishments that they succeed in.

Character Songs! (Ben) selections by Co Writer Tim Ruppenthal
Ben Reilly Jr., our main character, is a young man living with many crimes that he has put on himself for causing. Despite his not being able to do anything to stop them from happening. This is what has led to his overly serious demeanor both as a teenager and as the Scarlet Spider. We'll go more into his darker feelings as we progress through the story. But this song is one I feel really describes his torture of himself in the face of his tragic childhood and his feelings of inadequacy because of just who his father is.
